This recipe requires only yogurt, sweetener, a bit of vanilla and your favorite berries.

You can whip up these frozen yogurt cupcakes really fast and they are perfect for hot weather outside.

It's a great healthy alternative to ice cream and makes a delicious summer snack. You can easily customize these cups choosing from tons of flavors: favorite berries, fruits, classical PBJ, chocolate,  nuts, granola, and basically anything you like!

    Really.

And honestly, they all taste delicious!

Which frozen yogurt is the healthiest?

Frozen yogurt makers often claim it is a healthier alternative to ice cream, but that depends on the ingredients. Yogurt is usually lower in fat and calories than ice cream, but it can be just as high in sugar.

This is why it’s important to read the label and choose a plain yogurt like Greek yogurt with no added ingredients.

Ingredients for Easy Berry Frozen Yogurt Cups

As I already mentioned, you'll need just 4 ingredients for this recipe. But I recommend adding a bit of milk (I like to use almond or coconut milk) as it'll give a nice texture and allow you to easily distribute the mixture into cups. The end result will be more ''even'' as well.

    Ingredients are:

    • Plain Greek Yogurt
    • frozen or fresh blackberries, or any of your favorite berries
    • milk
    • vanilla extract
    • honey or fav sweetener

For sweetener, I sometimes use only 1 teaspoon of honey, because my little toddler will eat them as well.

How To Make Easy Berry Frozen Yogurt Cups

    STEP 1

Puree the berries with an immersion blender or stand blender and then mix them with yogurt.

    STEP 2

Take a baking dish or muffin pan, place 6 silicone cupcake molds/liners inside, and distribute the yogurt mixture evenly in all the cups. Transfer to the freezer for at least 3-4 hours.

    Notes:

    • When taking out of the freezer let them thaw for 5 minutes and they'll be ready for eating.
    • If you freeze them overnight then thaw for at least 10-20 minutes before eating.
    • When slightly melted, you can also cut the cupcakes in half, this way it will be not so messy because they melt rather quickly.

    Should you wash frozen berries?

Washing fruits and vegetables is important because it gets rid of excess dirt and bacteria. Although most frozen fruits and vegetables are washed before packaging, it is still important to wash them before use.

Just rinse frozen or thawed fruit in a colander under cool water and then use them in your recipes.

I have read that some people even boil frozen berries and then refreeze to kill the bacteria. What do you think is the right way and how do you usually do it? Let me know down below in the comments!

So here you go, super easy frozen yogurt recipe, I hope you enjoy!

What are your favorite frozen yogurt toppings and flavors?

    Thanks for reading,

    Julia
