Saute onion until browned and add in garlic. Cook until garlic becomes fragrant.

Add in mushrooms, and season with salt and black pepper. Cook until they are softened and browned.

In a large pot or dutch oven, over medium heat, boil the potatoes and add mushroom mix, milk, and cream.

Take it to a boil and reduce the heat to medium-low, simmer for 10-15 minutes until the soup thickens.
