Notes

  • The jam thickens a lot as it cools — start with less chia seeds and only add more if needed.
  • Flavor gets noticeably better after a few hours in the fridge — it’s worth the wait.
  • Sweetness depends on your berries — always taste and adjust with maple or honey at the end.
  • For 2 cups of jam, a good standard serving is about 2 tablespoons. Total servings: about 16 servings. This is typical for jam since it’s used as a spread or topping, not eaten in large amounts. If you’re using it more generously (like in yogurt bowls or oatmeal), you'll need about ¼ cup serving: about 8 servings.
  • This jam is naturally more on the tart side. Sweetness depends on how ripe your berries are, so taste and add more maple syrup or honey if needed (honey will be slightly sweeter)
