INGREDIENTS

  • ½ pound puff pastry, thawed
  • 3 ounces cream cheese, like Philadelphia
  • 1 tablespoon almond flakes, toasted
  • your favorite jam, for serving
  • avocado oil, or olive oil

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Prep the dough: Place thawed puff pastry on a floured surface. Cut into squares (I do about 2½ x 2½ inches, but you can go larger).
    ½ pound puff pastry
  • Heat the waffle maker: Brush with avocado or olive oil to prevent sticking.
    avocado oil
  • Cook the waffles: Add squares to the waffle maker and close the lid. Depending on the size of your iron, you can fit 4–6 at a time. Cook until puffed and golden, about 4–5 minutes.
  • Serve: Add a generous layer of cream cheese, sprinkle with almonds, and spoon over jam. Or go savory with ham, cheese, or sour cream.
