A Halloween charcuterie board is the same board you would make any other time, styled darker and a little creepier. Same cheese, same meat, same crackers. You just lean into orange, black, and deep purple, and add a few spooky touches at the end.

It is the best Halloween party food there is because it needs no cooking, it holds for the whole night, and it looks like you tried harder than you did. Here is exactly what to buy and how to put it together.
Twenty minutes, one board, done.

What Goes On a Halloween Charcuterie Board
Shop by color. If you cover orange, black, purple, and a little green, the board reads as Halloween without any decorations at all.
- Orange. Sharp orange cheddar, mimolette, dried apricots, cantaloupe, clementine segments, carrots, and mini orange bell peppers you can carve with tiny jack o lantern faces.
- Black. Black wax gouda, black sesame crackers, blackberries, black grapes, blackberry or fig jam, black olives, and dark chocolate squares.
- Purple and deep red. Red grapes, plums, dried cherries, salami, prosciutto, and a small bowl of raspberry or beet dip for a blood red pop.
- Green. Green grapes, Castelvetrano olives, rosemary and thyme sprigs tucked in as cobwebs, and a wheel of brie you can score into a spiderweb with a toothpick.
The Meat, Cheese and Fruit to Buy
Here is the full grocery list, sorted so you can shop it in one trip. Everything below is standard supermarket stuff, no special order needed.

Fruit and Produce

Sweet and Spooky Extras

- Pretzel sticks or pretzel rods to use as broom handles
How to Build It
Work large to small. Set the anchors first, fill with the rest, and finish with the tiny stuff.
Place the brie and any small bowls of jam or dip on the board first, spaced out. Fan the salami and prosciutto into loose folds or roses near them. Add the cheeses in blocks or wedges. Pile the crackers in curved lines to guide the eye around the board. Fill every gap with grapes, berries, olives, and dried fruit so there is no bare wood showing. Finish with the herb sprigs, the carved peppers, and any plastic spiders or candy eyes.
Spooky Touches
A few of these is all it takes. Do not overdo it or the board stops looking like food.
- Score a spiderweb into the brie rind with a toothpick and set a plastic spider in the center.
- Pipe a sour cream or cream cheese spiderweb over a dip and pull a toothpick through it. Cut jack o lantern faces into mini bell peppers or clementine skins. Use pretzel sticks as broom handles poked into cheese. Add a small bowl of candy corn and a scattering of candy eyeballs. Tuck fresh rosemary around the edges so it looks overgrown.
Make It Ahead
Prep everything up to a day early. Slice the cheese, wash the grapes, fold the meat, and store each in its own container or bag in the fridge. Assemble the board two to three hours before the party and keep it loosely covered with foil or plastic wrap in a cool spot. Add crackers and anything crunchy right before guests arrive so nothing goes soft.
Halloween Charcuterie Board Supplies
You do not need much, but a few pieces make the whole thing look put together. These are what I reach for. Anything on this list can sit in a cupboard and come out every October.
The Board and Serving Pieces
- A large wood serving board, at least 15 inches across
- A black slate board or a dark tray for contrast
- A small cake stand or riser to add height in the middle
- A set of cheese knives

Halloween Charcuterie Board Tips
- Shop by color, not by recipe. Orange, black, purple, and green in any form. The colors do the theme, so you do not need decorations.
- Start with the brie. One wheel scored into a spiderweb is the centerpiece. Build the rest of the board around it.
- Keep the spooky stuff edible where you can. Carved peppers, olive spiders, and pretzel brooms beat plastic props because people can actually eat them.
- Do not let it get soft. Add crackers and anything crunchy at the last minute. Everything else can sit out for the night.
- Use a bigger surface than you think. A crowded board looks generous. A sparse one looks sad. Fill every gap with grapes and berries.
- Prep a day ahead. Slice, wash, and fold everything the day before. Assembly the day of should take twenty minutes, not two hours.
Halloween Charcuterie Board Questions
What do you put on a Halloween charcuterie board?
The same base as any board, cheese, cured meat, crackers, fruit, and nuts, chosen in orange, black, purple, and green. Add a spiderweb scored brie, carved mini peppers, dark jam, black olives, and a few candy touches like candy corn or candy eyes.
How do you make a spiderweb on brie?
Use a toothpick or a thin knife to score curved lines from the center of the rind outward, then connect them with shorter arcs. Set a plastic spider or an olive in the middle. It takes about a minute.
Can I make a Halloween charcuterie board ahead of time?
Yes. Prep every component up to a day early and store it separately in the fridge. Assemble the board two to three hours before the party, keep it loosely covered in a cool spot, and add crackers right before guests arrive.
How much charcuterie do I need per person?
For a board that is the main snack, plan on about three ounces of cheese and two ounces of meat per person, plus crackers and fruit. If it is one of several things on the table, halve that.
