Why It's Yummy

💖 Sweet, spicy, and downright irresistible: Hot Honey Salmon Bites hit the perfect balance of sweet and spicy, thanks to a rich, buttery glaze that coats every crispy bite. It’s the kind of flavor that makes you want to lick the plate clean.

💖 Quick and easy: This recipe is ready in about 30 minutes, making it a lifesaver on busy weeknights when takeout is tempting but homemade is better (and faster!).

💖 Customizable heat: Love it fiery? Add extra hot sauce or a sprinkle of red pepper flakes. Prefer a milder kick? Tone it down with more honey or maple syrup. You’re in control!

💖 Simple ingredients: No hard-to-find items here. Everything you need is likely already in your pantry or easy to grab on your next grocery run.

Ingredients

  • Salmon - Salmon fillets, thawed if frozen.
  • Salt and black pepper - For seasoning.
  • Paprika - Regular or smoked, for added flavor.
  • Olive oil spray - To prevent sticking and help with crisping.
  • Butter - For a rich, silky glaze.
  • Honey or maple syrup - Adds the perfect balance of sweetness.
  • Hot sauce - Use your favorite for just the right amount of heat (such as Frank's hot sauce, Valentine, Sriracha, Taco Bell hot sauce).
  • Soy sauce - For a savory, umami boost.
  • Ginger - Grated or minced, for added zing.

📋 You can find the full ingredient list in the Recipe Card below the article.

  1. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the hot honey ingredients: honey, hot sauce, soy sauce (if using), and red pepper flakes. Stir occasionally until the sauce is warmed through and slightly thickened.
  2. Toss the baked salmon bites in the hot honey sauce until fully coated.
  3. Serve immediately with rice, cauliflower rice, or steamed veggies for a healthy and flavorful meal. Enjoy!

JULIA'S NOTE: Check your local Japanese market for Spicy Sriracha mayo, it is so good to drizzle on top!

Tips

  • Control the heat - Adjust the spice level by adding more or less hot sauce or swapping in a milder sauce (I like sweet chili sauce as a milder alternative).
  • Make ahead - Hot Honey Salmon Bites keep well in the fridge for up to 4 days in an airtight container. Reheat gently to maintain their crispy texture.
  • Freeze for later - Store in an airtight container for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge before reheating.
  • Hot sauce swap - No hot sauce on hand? Try chili garlic sauce, sambal oelek, or even a dash of cayenne pepper for heat.

Serving Suggestions

These Hot Honey Salmon Bites are incredibly versatile. Here’s how to pair them for a complete meal:

  • Rice or quinoa - Try my lime cilantro rice, broccoli rice or cauliflower rice.
  • Asian noodles - Soba, rice noodles, or even ramen work perfectly.
  • Vegetable sides - Roasted broccoli, glazed carrots, or sautéed green beans add color and crunch.
  • Salad - Asian cucumber salad, cabbage slaw, pickled daikon radish.
  • Potatoes - Try it with spicy skillet potatoes or sweet potato fries for a fun twist.

Pro-tip: Double the hot honey glaze to drizzle over your sides for extra flavor. Enjoy!

How to Meal Prep Hot Honey Salmon Bites

If you can resist devouring these Hot Honey Salmon Bites right away (it’s tough, trust me), they’re perfect for meal prep. They reheat beautifully, making your weeknights easier and way more delicious.

Whether you’re a meal-prep pro or just testing the waters, this recipe is your new secret weapon for quick, flavorful meals.

Bonus: You can switch things up by pairing the salmon with different sides to keep things interesting throughout the week.

If you’re planning to meal prep, grab 4 resealable containers to portion out the salmon and your favorite sides. Here’s how to make it happen:

  1. Cook and cool - Let the salmon bites cool slightly after cooking to avoid steam buildup.
  2. Portion and store - Divide the salmon bites into containers alongside rice, roasted veggies, or a salad. Drizzle a little extra hot honey glaze on top if you like.
  3. Reheat and enjoy - When you’re ready to eat, microwave for 2-3 minutes until heated through.

Meal prepping these Hot Honey Salmon Bites means you’ll have sweet, spicy, and satisfying meals ready to go—because busy weeks shouldn’t mean boring dinners!

Tips for Reheating Hot Honey Salmon Bites

Reheating salmon can be tricky, but a few simple tips will keep your Hot Honey Salmon Bites moist, flavorful, and just as delicious as when you first made them.

  1. Use a splatter guard - Investing in a plastic splatter guard is a game changer. It keeps your microwave mess-free and helps trap steam, keeping the salmon juicy instead of dried out.
  2. Reheat gently - Microwave the salmon bites on medium power in 30-second intervals to prevent overcooking. Cover with a damp paper towel for extra moisture retention.
  3. Oven method - If you have a bit more time, reheat the salmon in a 300°F (150°C) oven for 10-15 minutes. This method keeps the texture perfect (My favorite method)
  4. Air fryer option - Reheat in an air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 5-7 minutes to maintain that crispy exterior.
