I used to grab a store-bought protein shake most mornings until I started blending this instead. Dates add natural sweetness so there's no added sugar needed, and it still comes out creamy and rich with a solid hit of protein. It's become my go-to before or after a workout, and honestly, it tastes more like a milkshake or dessert than a shake ever did.

High Protein Vanilla Date Smoothie
Julia's Why-You'll-Love-It List
- The combination of dates, vanilla protein powder, and cinnamon tastes almost like a milkshake. My boys have even stolen sips from my glass and asked what was in it.
- I also love that most of the ingredients live in my freezer or pantry, so I rarely need a special grocery trip.
Ingredients
- Medjool dates - These add natural sweetness and a caramel-like flavor. If your dates feel dry, soak them in warm water for 5-10 minutes first.
- Vanilla protein powder - I use vanilla because it works perfectly with the cinnamon and dates. Most vanilla protein powders work well here.
- Frozen banana - I always have bags of frozen chunks of banana in my freezer. I strongly prefer frozen banana over fresh because the smoothie comes out colder and thicker.
- Cashews - Cashews make the smoothest, creamiest smoothie. Almonds work too, but the texture won't be quite as silky.
- Bee pollen (optional) - A little hidden gem full of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. It won't affect the taste.
