Chicken Crunchwrap Supreme recipe - make everyone's favorite fast food, delicious Taco Bell crunchwrap. You'll love this homemade version with a twist! We use chicken instead of the traditional taco meat.
Serve this chicken wrap with your favorite Mexican sides like Pico de Gallo, corn dip or a side of air fryer french fries.
Try the Homemade Crunchwrap Supreme, which uses beef, or go for something easier and lighter like our Tostadas.
Ingredients for Chicken Crunchwrap
- Chicken breast- ground, shredded, and rotisserie chicken will work in this recipe. You can also add crispy bacon with the chicken layer to add even more crispiness and flavor. Or try my crunchwrap supreme recipe with ground beef instead.
- Corn tortillas - find the largest tortillas available, preferably burrito-sized or similar. Smaller sizes won't fit all the ingredients and will break apart.
- Cheese - shredded sharp cheddar, Monterey jack, Colby or mix, and Queso are the best types for this recipe! Feel free to swap BBQ sauce for Queso for a creamier taste.
- Guacamole- mix mashed avocado, garlic powder, and lemon or lime juice, and season with salt and pepper to taste. This will add a creamy layer to the dish.
- Vegetables- lettuce, diced tomatoes, and jalapenos will give the wrap fresh flavors, color, and various textures.
- Barbeque sauce. Use your favorite brand. Depending on your type, it will add more depth of flavor.
- Toppings- we used nacho cheese, sour cream, salsa, and cilantro.

How To Make a Chicken Crunch Wrap Step-by-Step Photos
- Cook the chicken. Heat oil in a medium skillet over high heat. Add the chicken strips and cook for a few minutes until they turn golden brown.
- Make the avocado mash (guacamole). Mash the avocado, then add garlic powder, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Blend everything well.
How to Fold a Crunch Wrap
- To Assemble the crunchwrap, Place a large tortilla on a flat surface. Stack the chicken, barbecue sauce (cheese if using), and tortilla chips (or small tostadas). Layer the vegetables and mash avocado (guac) on top.
- Seal the crunch wrap. Once all the layers are in place, place a small cutout tortilla or a mini tortilla on top. Fold the seam of the large tortilla over the small one to close it.
- Cook. Heat a nonstick pan with a little oil over low-medium heat. Cook the wraps for a few minutes on each side until they are firm, crunchy, and golden brown. Cut and serve!
Tips When Making Chicken Crunchwrap
- If using smaller tortillas, try not to overload the wraps with too many ingredients, as they can easily break, especially while moving them.
- If using sauce, put a layer somewhere in the middle or simply drizzle over the ingredients (but not in the bottom). This will ensure that the tortilla will not become soggy.
- The wrap is quite big, you can cut it into 4 pieces to start with!
- Make your own tostada. Cut a regular corn tortilla into the desired size and then fry them in oil on the pan or air fryer. Or use tortilla chips instead.
- Like it spicy? Drizzle my homemade Buffalo sauce on top and serve with Homemade Gluten Free Tater Tots!
Do I Have To Use Guacamole?
If you don't have guacamole or don't like it, you can use something with a similar texture instead.
Queso is perfect for this! The guacamole acts as the "glue" to hold the chicken crunch wrap together.
Tips For Making The Best Chicken Crunchwrap
- If you use smaller tortillas, don't overload the wraps with too many ingredients. Your chicken wrap can easily break, especially while serving.
- If using sauce, put a layer somewhere in the middle or simply drizzle over the ingredients (but not in the bottom). This will ensure that the tortilla will not become soggy.
- The wrap is pretty huge, cut it into 4 pieces to start with!
- Make your own tostada shells. Cut a regular corn tortilla into the desired size and fry it in oil on the pan or air fryer. You can also use tortilla chips instead.
- Like it spicy? Drizzle my homemade Buffalo sauce on top and serve with Homemade Gluten Free Tater Tots!
Do I Need Tostada Shells?
Tostada shells are corn tortillas baked or fried until crispy. If you don't have them just use tortilla chips like I did.
This step is essential for separating the chicken (warm) and toppings (cold) layer and will add a little crunch to the dish!
Storing Leftovers
- To Store. Place the chicken crunch wrap in an airtight container or wrap it tightly in aluminum foil. Store in the fridge for up to 2 to 3 days.
- To Freeze. Wrap them tightly in foil and place them in freezer bags to prevent burns. For best quality, consume frozen wraps within 1 to 2 months only.
How Do I Reheat a Crunchwrap?
Reheat them in the microwave or oven until warmed through.
Thaw it overnight in the refrigerator before reheating to ensure even heating if it is frozen.
