Leftover Turkey Wrap

As a food blogger and a mom, I'm all about making the most of leftovers, and this turkey wrap is one of my go-to solutions after Thanksgiving (or Christmas dinner).

It’s quick, easy, and a great way to enjoy something fresh without much effort.

If you are looking for another way to use leftover turkey, try this leftover turkey shepherd’s pie or stuffed peppers.

Why It's Yummy

  • Useful. This wrap is a great way to use up leftover cranberry sauce and turkey. The ideal way to repurpose these leftovers.
  • Simple. After preparing a Thanksgiving meal and all the fixings, this recipe is easy to prepare with just a handful of simple ingredients.
  • Fast.  It takes just minutes to pull these wraps together so they are ideal for an easy weeknight meal or easy lunch the whole family will enjoy.
  • Adjustable. Play around with the filling and add some cheese, deli meats, or anything else you like in your wrap.

Ingredients

  • Turkey - cooked turkey leftovers, cubed.  If you don't have any leftover holiday turkey you can use deli turkey.
  • Tortilla - choose whatever type of tortillas you like whether it be flour tortillas, gluten-free tortillas, or flavored tortillas.
  • Cream cheese - use more or less depending on your preference. Full fat will give the wrap a creamier flavor but low fat will also work.
  • Cranberry sauce - freshly made or canned cranberry sauce gives this turkey wrap a festive flavor. Set out extra cranberry sauce in a small bowl for those diehard lovers. Try this cranberry relish too!
  • Romaine lettuce - chopped romaine lettuce leaves add some crunch to the wrap but feel free to use whatever else you like. Butter lettuce or iceberg.
  • Pecans - add pecans or walnuts for more flavor and crunch.

📋 FLAVOR & TEXTURE: Soft, and chewy with a sweet, tangy and savory flavors. A thanksgiving meal in a wrap!

Tips

  • Opt for homemade cranberry sauce (or lingonberry sauce); it's healthier, tastier, and free from additives compared to store-bought jars. Plus, it stores well in the fridge for convenient use.
  • Use herb or flavored cream cheese to add more flavor to the wrap. Or mix diced green onion into your cream cheese.
  • Room-temperature cream cheese is easier to spread, so take it out of the fridge before preparing these turkey cranberry wraps. Or use a whipped cream cheese which is easier to spread straight from the fridge.
  • Place a toothpick into the folded wrap to keep it from unwrapping.
  • Serve with a side of ranch dressing for dipping. So good!
  • For later consumption, use less sauce and cream cheese if you can, wrap it in foil or parchment paper, and refrigerate. This will prevent moisture buildup by allowing the wrap to breathe.
  • More Thanksgiving recipes: Shepherd's pie, Stuffing, Cranberry salad, Corn Casserole, Roasted butternut squash and apples.

Don't overload the wraps: Leave some space around the edge of the tortilla so that when you fold it nothing falls out.

Serving Suggestions

If you have any other Thanksgiving leftovers, bring them out! Lunch the next day is the best way to ensure the food gets eaten before anything goes bad.

If leftovers are scarce, try one of these dishes alongside your wrap. I find adding soup or a side salad and some fresh fruit, like apple slices, is the perfect way to enjoy this wrap.

  • Avocado Corn Salad
  • Easy Mexican Slaw

Freezing And Storing Instructions

  • To Store. Leftover wraps will keep for a day or two in the fridge, wrapped tightly in foil, though the tortilla may get a little soft. It’s best not to prepare too many that far in advance if you don’t think you’ll eat them all.
  • To Freeze. Freeze leftover wraps for up to 3 months. Defrost in the fridge overnight.
  • To Make Ahead. It’s best to prepare them not too long after your turkey meal so the turkey is still good. If you don’t think you’ll prepare these wraps within a few days of serving your turkey it’s best to freeze the turkey and then thaw it when you want to make these wraps.

FAQs

How many calories are in a turkey cranberry wrap?

This turkey wrap has 361 calories. How many calories really depends on how your turkey was prepared, what type of cranberry sauce you use, and what else you add to your wrap.

Does a wrap have more calories than bread?

The amount of calories depends on the type of wrap you use. It is best to read the label to understand better how many calories are in the tortilla wrap itself.

How do you keep turkey wraps from getting soggy?

If you're not eating the wrap right away, I recommend using less sauce and cream cheese (if possible) wrapping it in foil or parchment paper, and storing it in the fridge. This allows the wrap to breathe which will prevent moisture build up.
