    • Quick And Easy Meatballs In Tomato Sauce

Yet again another easy dinner recipe that will be ready in about 30 minutes.

Really tender, juicy, and flavorful meatballs are cooked first with some onion and mushrooms.

    Instructions

    STEP 1 - Meatballs

    1. In a large mixing bowl combine minced meat, egg, salt, and crumbs. Add diced onion and mushrooms.
    2. Rinse your hands in cold water and form the meatballs using your fingers or a cookie scoop.
    3. Heat up the pan with olive oil, add meatballs and cook for 4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
    4. Take from heat and put aside.

    STEP 2 - Tomato Sauce

    1. Cut garlic into small pieces or using a garlic cutter/press and add to the pan, cook for 1 minute constantly stirring.
    2. Add tomatoes, oregano, pepper, and stir well.
    3. Cook the mixture for few minutes, stir in the sour cream.

STEP 3 - Cook the meatballs in homemade tomato sauce

    1. Return meatballs to the pan and coat evenly with sauce. Cook on reduced heat for 15 minutes.

    STEP 4 - Serve

Serve with fresh parsley, parmesan (optional) and pasta, rice, or your favorite side dish.

Tips How To Make The Best Meatballs in Tomato Sauce

    • It is important not to overcook your meatballs as they will lose their texture and tenderness. If you’re afraid to overcook them then it’s better to undercook and then leave the meatballs to simmer in the sauce a bit longer.
    • Ground meat - you can use any ground meat or a mix of ground meat. In this recipe, I've used my favorite blend - beef and pork ground meat.
    • Use your hands for shaping - in my opinion, the easiest way and gives far the best results when it comes to perfectly formed round meatballs.
    • If you are really short in time, you can put raw meatballs in tomato sauce to cook. But keep in mind, the end result will be different than cooking them first.

    Serving Suggestions

The best option is to stick with the classic and simple sides like pasta/spaghetti, baked potato, mashed potato, or plain rice and a bowl of simple fresh salad.

All of these options go well with meatballs and are enough to feed and satisfy your family or guests. Here's more of my suggestions:

    Variations and Substitutions

    • Gluten-free - use gluten-free Panko crumbs or other gluten-free options.
    • For the best flavor add grated parmesan or any other hard cheese on top of the same.
    • Substitute beef and pork with ground chicken or turkey.
