Air Fryer Mushrooms
This air fryer garlic mushrooms recipe is ready in about 12 minutes. It is simple, fast, and perfect for busy weeknights. If you love easy air fryer vegetable sides, quick mushroom side dishes, or healthy garlic mushrooms, this one is for you.
I make these when I need something fast that still tastes like it came from a restaurant. They are tender inside, lightly crisp on the edges, and full of garlic flavor.
Julia's Why-You'll-Love-It List
♥ The flavor balance is simple but strong. Garlic gives depth. Salt pulls out the natural mushroom flavor. A little oil helps them brown instead of steaming.
♥ The texture contrast is what makes these better than average versions. The air fryer cooks off excess moisture fast. That gives you golden edges and juicy centers instead of soggy mushrooms like you often get on the stovetop.
♥ What makes this better than store-bought or restaurant sides? You control the seasoning. And they are fresher. No greasy finish.

Ingredients
- Button mushrooms. Mild and affordable. They cook quickly and hold their shape. If you can find fresh, firm ones with tight caps, it is worth it. You can swap for cremini for a deeper flavor.
- Avocado oil. Helps with browning. You can use olive oil, but avocado oil has a neutral taste and higher smoke point.
- Fresh garlic. This is where the flavor comes from. Pre-minced garlic works, but fresh garlic gives a cleaner, sharper taste.
- Salt and black pepper. Simple but important. Salt draws out moisture and boosts flavor.
- Dried parsley. Adds a light herb note. You can swap with Herbs de Provence or Italian seasoning and add fresh chopped parsley at the end.

How To Make Air Fryer Garlic Mushrooms
- In a bowl, combine sliced button mushrooms, avocado oil, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and parsley. Toss until evenly coated. The mushrooms should look glossy, not dripping.
- Preheat your air fryer to 390°F for 3–5 minutes. This helps them start crisping right away instead of steaming.

- Place mushrooms in the basket in a single layer. Do not stack them. This is where people go wrong. Overcrowding causes soggy mushrooms.
- Cook at 390°F for 7–9 minutes. Shake the basket halfway. You want golden edges and slightly shrunk mushrooms.
- Remove and serve immediately. They will look smaller but more concentrated in flavor.
- Tip: If you see mushrooms burning, spray some more oil and stir the mushrooms gently.

Always cook mushrooms in a single layer for crispy air fryer Mushrooms. For more crisp edges, cook 1–2 minutes longer.
You can absolutely master these. It is one of the easiest air fryer vegetable recipes out there. Try it once and you will keep making it.
Tips
- Do not overcrowd the basket. This causes steaming.
- Preheat the air fryer for better browning.
- Shake halfway for even cooking.
- For deeper flavor, add a tiny splash of soy sauce.
- This is where people go wrong: using too much oil makes them soft, not crispy.
- Restaurant-style tip: finish with a squeeze of lemon juice before serving. Just a little!

Serving Suggestions
These easy air fryer mushrooms go well with:
If you love simple sides, pair them with roasted vegetables or your favorite air fryer proteins.
Don’t Make These Mistakes
- Do not wash mushrooms and leave them wet. They will steam.
- Do not stack them in layers.
- Do not skip shaking the basket.
- Do not under-season. Mushrooms need enough salt.

Storing Leftovers
- To Store. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
- To Freeze. Freezing is not recommended. Mushrooms release too much water when thawed.
- To Make Ahead. Slice mushrooms earlier in the day and store dry in the fridge in food containers.
- To Reheat. Reheat in the air fryer at 350°F for 2–3 minutes until warm and slightly crisp again.
Bonus: Upgrade Variations
- Bold flavor twist. Add grated parmesan in the last 2 minutes for cheesy garlic mushrooms. So Good!!!
- Lighter option: Reduce oil to 2 teaspoons and add fresh herbs after cooking.
- Restaurant-inspired version: Toss with butter and fresh thyme after air frying.
- Family-friendly adjustment: Add a pinch of smoked paprika for mild smoky flavor.
