Tequila Sunrise Ingredients

sunrise mocktail recipe ingredients.

You only need 4 key ingredients to make this recipe. You can create a 🌅 sunrise look by adding grenadine right into the glass before serving. Or just mix it in the jug like I did.

  • Orange juice - For the freshly squeezed juice, you'll need about 2-3 large oranges. Store-bought freshly squeezed orange juice is also an option in a pinch.
  • Grenadine syrup - This deep red non-alcoholic syrup adds sweet flavor and a deeper orange hue to this sunrise mocktail recipe. You definitely get that sunrise effect when you combine orange juice and grenadine.
  • Lime juice - The acidity of freshly squeezed lime juice helps to cut through some of the sweetness in this simple cocktail.
  • Pineapple juice - Choose one medium-sized pineapple that is firm to the touch, smells sweet, and doesn't have bruises or dark spots.

Why You'll Love This Tropical Mocktail

  • This mocktail with grenadine is a refreshing drink that adults and kids can enjoy!
  • Easily adapt this morning mocktail with simple ingredient swaps and additions.
  • It's easy to make ahead of time and double or even triple the ingredients when serving to a crowd.

How To Make Tequila Sunrise Mocktail

  1. Fill a glass with ice cubes. Add ice cubes to your preferred type of glass. A highball glass or another tall glass is perfect for this easy sunrise mocktail.

  1. Add the freshly squeezed juices. Pour the freshly squeezed pineapple juice into the glass, then lime and orange juice.
  2. Add the grenadine. Slowly pour the grenadine syrup over the back of a spoon into the glass. This allows the syrup to "float", creating the sunrise effect. Enjoy!
  3. Garnish and serve. Garnish your virgin tequila sunrise with sliced lime, orange, or pineapple, and enjoy!

You can mix everything in a jug including grenadine - perfect for large parties!

This stunning and sweet sunrise mocktail is one of the best alcohol free tequila drinks I've tried! It makes for a sip-worthy treat for brunch, special occasions, pool parties, and summer BBQs.

How To Serve Tequila Sunrise Mocktail For a Crowd?

Increase the ingredients used in this recipe to cater to a crowd.

When serving for large group it is easier to mix everything (including grenadine) in a large jug like photos above.

How To Make This Sunrise Mocktail Ahead of Time?

Combine all ingredients except the ice cubes, and store the mixture in a jug in the fridge for 1-2 days before serving.

Pour the sunrise mocktail mixture over ice cubes in a glass with fresh garnish before serving.

Favorite Sunrise Mocktail Variations & Substitutions

  • Juice - Experiment with other types of fruit juice, such as strawberry, peach juice, cherry, pomegranate juice, or other citrus juice.
  • Fizz - You can add sprite, lemon-lime soda, or sparkling water to this simple mocktail for a kick of fizz.
  • Alcohol - There is no tequila in this mocktail recipe. To make this fake tequila drink boozy, add your favorite brand of tequila or vodka.
  • Grenadine syrup - For grenadine substitute in this Mexican morning drink use another simple syrup, such as strawberry syrup or raspberry syrup. Of course, you can also make this summer drink without any syrup at all.
  • Want something same refreshing but creamy? Try my Virgin Pina Colada next.

Expert Tips

  • While you can use commercial fruit juice to make this non alcoholic tequila mocktail, freshly squeezed juice will always provide the best flavor and is the healthier option.
  • For extra flare, rim each glass with your choice of juice, granulated sugar, or colored sanding sugar. You could also serve this orange mocktail in a champagne flute.
  • When serving this sunrise mocktail at a party, use a punch bowl with fresh slices of lime, orange, and pineapple.
  • Always use fruit that is ripe and unblemished to make this drink.
