Matcha Oatmeal Porridge Bowl - An easy and yummy breakfast porridge bowl that takes less than 10 minutes to throw together. It’s a simple blend of oatmeal, matcha green tea, vanilla, almond or oat milk (choose your favorite milk), coconut, honey and topped up with banana slices, peanut butter, pomegranate seeds, almonds, white currants.

I think many people prefer porridge for breakfast when it gets colder outside but I’m an absolute fan of having my porridge in summer days.
There is nothing better than starting a beautiful day with freshly cooked oatmeal that smells like a small oatmeal pie. It’s warm, cozy, and filled with my favorite things.
And guess what, it can be different everyday!
Simply change toppings, add in new flavors like banana, berries, vanilla, cinnamon and etc. That way it never gets boring and is delicious at the same time.

How To Make Matcha Tea Porridge Bowl
First you'll need to prepare the Matcha
In a small saucer add matcha powder and 1 tablespoon of warm water and gently whisk/mix (with a fork or a matcha whisk) together making sure no lumps remain. Add more water if needed, stir and set aside.
Prepare Matcha Porridge
In a medium pan add milk and water and bring to a boil. Stir in oats, vanilla extract and let it simmer on lower heat.
At this point, you can add some salt (if using). I always like to add a bit of salt to my porridge, it creates a nice balance between sweet and salty flavors.
Allow the oats to cook and thicken while stirring occasionally for about 5-7 minutes.
Remove oats from heat and add in earlier prepared matcha mixture and coconut oil. Fold both ingredients into oats until they are fully incorporated.
Garnish with your favorite toppings and a bit of Matcha powder on top and serve hot!

What does Matcha Tea Do For You? (Matcha Benefits)
The main reason that many people drink matcha is for its health benefits (and because of its unique taste).
One of the nutrients that Matcha has is called catechin (EGCG), which is believed to have cancer-fighting effects on the body.
But be careful with your Matcha amounts - drinking too much of it that you exceed your daily caffeine limit would be actually counterproductive for your health.
One of the most popular benefits that I've heard that actually works is Matcha can improve your teeth health. Check out this article for more advanced reading on this topic.
What Does Matcha Taste Like?
Well, it depends, how much you put it into your recipes. Overall its creamy, vanilla-yish and can be quite sharp in taste.
In the highest-quality matcha brands, you'll notice vegetal notes, a pleasant, but not astringent bitterness, nuttiness, and a smooth sweetness. Grassy and sweet.
But if you add too much you'll end up hating the taste. Having too much of matcha can be actually bad for you as it contains a high level of caffeine. And we all know that it's not good for you.
Consume wisely and enjoy the wide range of recipes that you can make with this lovely green tea powder.
That's all from me for now! I hope you'll love this recipe as much as I do!
