Tips For Preparing Christmas Dinner
Here are some tips for making a successful Christmas dinner:
- Plan your menu early. Decide on your main dish, sides, and dessert ahead of time. This way, you can ensure everything works together and avoid last-minute stress. Make a shopping list and check it twice so you don’t forget any key ingredients.
- Prep in advance. Prepare as much as you can a day or two before Christmas. Chopping vegetables, marinating meats, or making desserts ahead of time will save you a lot of stress on the day of the big meal.
- Choose a show-stopping main dish. Whether it's a roasted turkey, ham, or a plant-based centerpiece, make sure your main dish is something special. Cooking it well is the key to impressing your guests, so follow a trusted recipe and don’t rush it.
- Keep sides simple. Go for classic sides like mashed potatoes, roasted veggies, or stuffing, but don’t feel you have to make too many. Choose a few crowd-pleasers and make them well.
- Ask for help. If you’re having a lot of guests, ask them to bring a side dish or dessert. This will lighten your load and add variety to the table.
- Set the table early. Don’t wait until the last minute to arrange your table. Set it the night before or in the morning so you’re not rushing while the food is cooking. It also adds to the festive atmosphere.
- Dairy free. Many recipes can be easily made dairy-free by using vegan butter, cream cheese or grated cheeses.
